Join us for an enlightening online webinar on "Patient and Families’ Engagement for Safer Healthcare: Elevating Voices of Patients for Change - Creating National Networks" on September 22, 2023, as we celebrate World Patient Safety Day (WPSD). WPSD, designated by the Seventy-second World Health Assembly, is observed each year on September 17th, focusing on crucial areas that require attention to reduce avoidable harm in healthcare. "Patient and Families Engagement for Safer Healthcare," seeks to emphasize the crucial role of patients and networks at National level driving change in systems and policy in ensuring safe healthcare practices. This online event will be live-streamed to accommodate a wider audience. We aim to provide a platform for stakeholders to share experiences and discuss effective strategies for patient engagement in safety. Together, we can foster collaboration and identify best practices to implement across healthcare settings.

In line with our ongoing dedication to advancing patient safety and promoting active patient involvement, PFPSN APAC is thrilled to introduce an ongoing poster competition. This poster competition represents an unique initiative in the patient engagement in patient safety landscape.

Competition Title:"Empowering Patient Safety: What Can I Do?"

Objective:Our competition seeks to create awareness about patient safety within the patient community, patient advocates, caregivers, and the broader public.

The Round Table Discussion on Community and People Involvement for Managing Hypertension in India is a crucial event scheduled to take place on August 2nd, 2023, at the prestigious Constitution Club of India. At the event, 7 Members of Parliament will participate alongside 2 specialist speakers, Dr. Padma Shrivastava and Ms. Vandana Shah. The event aims to bring together key stakeholders, healthcare professionals, policymakers, and community representatives to deliberate on the pressing issue of hypertension management in India.

Understanding the hidden risks and consequences of Uncontrolled Hypertension

The workshop on National Rare Disease Policy (NPRD), aims to raise awareness and define a comprehensive framework by guiding rare disease patients at every stage, facilitating access to diagnosis, referrals, and treatment under NPRD. This workshop would pave the pathway for PAGs to collaborate with Centers of Excellence (COEs), accelerating policy adoption. Together through this workshop, we can create patient awareness, highlighting the benefits of NPRD 2021 and assisting patients in navigating the healthcare system for maximum advantage.

“PAIR” is a social good organization that works with patient groups, caregivers, and healthcare professionals. It is set up to develop and maintain capacity amongst patients across the globe, to enable them to engage with their health systems in a more meaningful and strategic manner. One of our initiatives, “Women with wings” is a patient support group for women health issues dedicated to raising awareness about the under highlighted disease areas and its devastating impact on women’s lives including fertility difficulties.

"PCOS Support Network" is a Patients’ Support Group, and an initiative of "Women with Wings" is organizing an “Ask the Experts” session on Fertility Difficulties.

Universal Health Coverage was set up as one of the targets while adopting SDGs in 2015. In 2019, this commitment was acknowledged by several countries at the United Nations General Assembly High-Level Meeting on UHC. India is committed to providing universal health care for all by 2030. Ayushman Bharat (PMJAY) under the National Health Protection Scheme was introduced in 2018 as a step toward achieving (UHC). UHC means ensuring that all individuals, regardless of their financial situation, have access to all aspects of health care, such as prevention, treatment, promotion, rehabilitation, and palliation.

Asia-Pacific Patients Congress is the regional event which brings together the objectives of the Global Patients Congress to the Asia-Pacific region.
